Happy New Year! Just like everyone else, I’m stoked to leave 2017 behind. Last year had a lot of highlights – like finishing my degree from Sonoma State University, finally turning 21 and starting this blog – but there were a lot of challenges too. I watched my community burn, I watched my government disappoint me over and over and dealt with lots of stress and anxiety.
Moving into 2018, my biggest goal is making myself a priority. When my life gets busy, the first thing that falls by the wayside is making sure I take care of myself and my space. Here are a few goals I’m working towards and things that help me achieve them.
Organize, organize, organize!
I feel best when I’m organized – at home, at work and in my day to day life. The best way I work toward this is by setting deadlines for myself (especially for daily and personal goals!) and writing them down in a planner. My favorite planners are from bando (which are 50% off right now!). I also have a whiteboard and a calendar in my room to keep daily reminders in sight.
Along with organizing your space, removing clutter helps free up space and makes you feel a burden is lifted off your shoulders. I’m starting with my clothes – I have waaaay too many pieces of clothing that I never wear, so I will go through and donate anything I haven’t worn recently.
Practice self care and self love
Taking care of yourself should be a top priority, which is something I often forget. This year, I’m going to make sure I take care of my mental and physical health through yoga, at-home spa days and simply taking a moment to relax and breathe.
